The Established Lectures Committee was created in 1946 as the All University Committee on Convocations and Lectures and was given the responsibilities of the earlier, separate Weil and McNair Lecture Committees. Other duties included distributing funds provided by the Alumni Giving Council to the academic departments and schools for alumni lectures.
